Negative Self Talk

You know you deserve to be happy and to reach your goals. However, you find yourself thinking all of these negative thoughts. “I can’t do it”, “I’m not good enough” or “I will never get there” are very common thoughts that might run through your mind. But you deserve so much more. So why not start acting like it?

Negative self talk is something a lot of people struggle with. It isn’t very easy to control your thoughts, but it is something you can try to change. Limiting beliefs are thoughts or state of mind that you think is the absolute truth and stops you from doing certain things. They are taught to you by yourself or someone close to you and aren’t always the truth. Therefore, you can change the way you think about yourself.
Learn to talk differently to yourself
Your thoughts will become your reality. If you keep telling yourself you can’t do certain things or will never reach a specific goal, you most likely won’t. Try believing in yourself, even though that might seems harder than it actually is. It all starts with the way you think. Changing this might feel fake and uncomfortable, but you’ll notice that it eventually will make you feel better.
Write down your negative thoughts or limiting beliefs and try to look at it differently. Write a positive compliment or feedback next to it. Reframe all of your limiting beliefs like this and read them over and over again. Eventually you will start believing you actually can do it all.

Affirmations
Affirmations are positive statements that can help you change and overcome limiting beliefs and negative thoughts. You can write affirmations about a lot of different aspects of your life. The important part is that you keep repeating them. Read them (out loud) every single day, most preferably in the morning to start your day the right way. Try to only pick affirmations that align with your goals and the thoughts you want to change about yourself.
Be the person you want to be
So, let’s say you’ve started changing your thoughts. You are not fully convinced yet, but you’re getting there. You are getting more motivated every day. The next step is believing you are the person that can achieve those goals. A big part of your personality or identity is formed by the people close to you, such as your parents or friends. Whether it’s insecurity, fear or something else that’s stopping you, ask yourself where those thoughts came from. Who taught you the limiting beliefs you are currently seeing as the truth and why do you believe that’s true? If they made you think you can't do certain things, prove them wrong. Imagine the person you want to be in 10 years and start acting like that person. Talk, dress and think like that person. Start becoming the person you want to be.
